Sinopse: 1999, na ilha grega de Kalokairi. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) está prestes a se casar e, sem saber quem é seu pai, envia convites para Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth) e Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard). Eles vêm de diferentes partes do mundo, dispostos a reencontrar a mulher de suas vidas: Donna (Meryl Streep), mãe de Sophie. Ao chegarem Donna é surpreendida, tendo que inventar desculpas para não revelar quem é o pai de Sophie.

“Um dos melhores musicais que já assisti, com história montada em cima de músicas do grupo ABBA, Mamma Mia é muito contagiante e foge dos padrões dos musicais, não pode concorrer ao Oscar de melhor canção pois nenhuma canção do filme era original já que todas são do grupo ABBA. Mas foi homenageado por Hugh Jackman que na cerimônia desse ano, apresentou uma montagem sobre musicais e no final falou que “Os musicais voltaram”, tudo isso graças a Mamma Mia”
